Happy Thanksgiving!

For all our American readers, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and are currently---like Molly here---eating pumpkin pie for breakfast and turkey sandwiches for every other meal. Or gloating over your Black Friday purchases (or the mere fact that you survived Black Friday). For everyone else...well, I just want to use the obvious holiday to thank all of you who read and support this webcomic. Thank you and obrigada!

Feliz aniversário, SIB!

SIB turns one this weekend! Yes, one year ago the webcomic launched, with a handful of promotional stickers at Long Beach Comic-Con 2010. Jump ahead to 2011 and we have 85 fans on Facebook, followers all over the world (including a huge jump in readership in Brazil! Oi, galera!! Obrigada!), and a couple of my ex-boyfriends e-mailing me occasionally to correct me on their hairstyles and dialogue. I've self-published a book of the first 28 strips. And the story continues...

I want to give a very big thank you to each and every person who reads SIB. You guys probably all know that although I am a paid illustrator, this is not my day job, so every SIB strip or sketch or script requires staying up late on a week night, or staying home on a weekend, and knowing all of you guys are out there enjoying this strip makes it all worthwhile. Thank you and I will keep it up as long as one of you is still reading!

Secondly I want to thank everyone who helps make the existence of SIB possible...my letterers to date, Brian Campbell, Terry Blas, and Kimball Davis. You guys rock, and you make my comic look like it's the real deal. Thank you to my roommate Julie for letting me ink on the living room coffee table. And thank you also to everyone who inspired and continues to inspire this story.

"The Independents"

While you're waiting for this Friday's new strip, take a moment to check out the IndieGoGo campaign that director Michael La Breche has set up for his thesis documentary film, "The Independents". I was interviewed by Michael and his amazing crew about my work and about "Somewhere In Between". There is a lot of incredible, established talent featured in this doc (not the least of which is Doug TenNapel!) but the filmmakers treated me as no less the comics professional than any of the other artists in the film. (Plus, they lit me well. And good things come to those who can make me look good on camera!)

So check out the preview (you can see me drawing and inking at the very end of it!) and if you are able, please donate to help get this documentary made. It would mean a lot of great publicity and attention for me and for my webcomic, and you can still say you were reading "Somewhere In Between" before it was popular (you silly hipsters, you!).

SIB goes to SDCC!

It's Comic-Con time again! I'm off to San Diego to get my annual dose of angry crowds, impulse shopping, and overeating. No booth for me but I will be wandering the convention Friday, Saturday and possibly early Sunday...and also hanging out at Trickster across the street! If you aren't already, be sure to follow @SIBcomic on Twitter to keep up to date on all the adventures this weekend.

I'll also be carrying a limited number of the very first SIB book (a collection of the first 28 strips, various sketches, extra goodies), so if you are attending and want a copy, again, Twitter's the best way to get my attention. I'll see you all there!

Traveling Light

"Somewhere In Between" is going on vacation! OK, well, I am, which means the strip is taking a little break. :-) New comics soon to come, as well as more exciting news about the upcoming audio adaptation by AudioComics!

"SIB" goes to Seattle!

Off to Emerald City Comic-Con! Since I'll be unable to post a regular strip while I'm at the con, please enjoy this new sketch (drawn while I was filming an interview segment for an upcoming documentary! More on that later, I promise!)...and if you are local to the Seattle area or are coming in for ECCC, come by Artist Alley table F-13 and show some love for SIB and Latchkey Studios! I have prints of some of my pin-up art and the popular "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" illustration for sale, as well as fun goody bags of SIB swag. Plus I will be doing commission sketches!

Strips will resume next week so stay tuned!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, this is a romance comic, after all...so for V-Day, here's a little romance for all of you SIB readers! The strip in which this scene takes place is coming up shortly, but I couldn't think of a better occasion to share this new illustration, so consider it sort of a "teaser" of things to come!

Whether you're celebrating with your signifcant other, ball and chain, life partner, cat, or Netflix movie...lots of love to everyone who reads this strip and gives me a reason to keep drawing it! XOXO
